Since its founding by Saint John Paul II in 1986, the worldwide gathering of youth known as World Youth Day has brought millions of youth together to celebrate and grow deeper in the Catholic faith.
JPII envisioned WYD as “a powerful moment in which the young people of the world could meet Christ, who is eternally young, and could learn from Him how to be bearers of the Gospel to other young people.”
St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits, advocated a simple yet profound spirituality for daily life. It insists that God is present in our world and active in our lives. On this trip, we will be living simply and accommodations will be basic, providing an opportunity to grow in faith.
