Kevin Booth Named Next President of Winnipeg’s St. Paul's High School

July 10, 2018 — St. Paul’s High School in Winnipeg, Manitoba, has named alumnus Kevin Booth as the school’s next president. Booth will succeed Jesuit Father Len Altilia, who served as president for the past five years.

Booth, who has long-standing ties to St. Paul’s and the local community, will draw on over 34 years of experience in Catholic and Jesuit-based education. A St. Paul’s alumnus, Booth began his career in education at St. Paul’s, first as a teacher and then later serving in the roles of director of athletics and vice principal at the school. He also has previously served as principal of Gonzaga Preparatory School in Spokane, Washington; principal of O’Grady Catholic School; and vice principal of St. Mary’s School in Okotoks, Alberta.

“Our community has been blessed to have Fr. Altilia serve as president of St. Paul’s High School for the past five years,” the school wrote in a post on the St. Paul's High School News blog. According to the blog, Fr. Altilia will begin his new work in the Society of Jesus as secretary of the Canadian Jesuit Province and coordinator of the translation office this September. He will also continue his assignment as the Provincial Assistant for Secondary Education.

“We wish Fr. Len all the best as he moves into his new role,” the school said. “The entire St. Paul’s High School community remains forever grateful for Fr. Len's generous and effective service.”

“Kevin has a deep understanding of the Ignatian pedagogical model which is the foundation of St. Paul’s High School,” said André Kriening, chair of the board of directors of St. Paul’s, in a statement. “Kevin is regarded as a collaborator with a focus on love, creativity and an active willing to do good for the other, cura personalis.”

Booth, who currently resides in Alberta, will be relocating with his wife Sheryl for the new role. “He is excited to be returning and we are very excited to have him join us as our new president,” Kriening said. [Sources: St. Paul's High School, St. Paul's High School News]
